Four problem types are available:
  • Questions: are meant to help you clarify points about theory and can be answered without use of paper or computer.

  • Exercises: can be used to strengthen your technical ability with various aspects of maths and stats. They will require you to use pencil, paper and a calculator.

  • Word problems: are exercises disguised in ecological descriptions. Before applying any mathematical technique, you are expected to extract the salient facts (numerical information or biological assumptions). You may also be required to put your final mathematical results back into their ecological context.

  • R coding: these are small technical questions intended to strengthen your practical skills with R.
There are also
  • Projects: these are likely to require a combination of skills (ecological interpretation, mathematical technique and R programming). If you are after more substantial projects than the ones listed here, check out the dedicated labs page.
